About Mr. Binder
This is one of my favorite quotes, and it eloquently summarizes my fundamental beliefs about teaching: I believe that every student is filled with tremendous potential, and it is our job, as teachers, to help our students discover and fulfill that potential to their utmost ability. As a teacher, I strive to help my students discover and nurture their innate leadership abilities.
Philosophy of Teaching
“Leadership springs from deep personal convictions” (Senge, 2006, p. xvii). As an educator, I believe that every human life has value, and that we were all placed on this Earth for a purpose. As such, I feel that it is my duty to make a difference in the lives of others, helping them to achieve their utmost potential. I am driven by my love for life, my wife, my children and family, and by my passion for education. I am inspired by my faith, my community, my coworkers, and my students, and I am grateful for the passion and creativity that has been bestowed upon me. I am passionate about my purpose; as a teacher, I will valiantly strive to positively impact the lives of my students, leaving the world better than I found it. Like the heroes of my life, I hope to leave a lasting legacy that positively impacts future generations, inspiring compassion, integrity, fair-mindedness and love.
My Family
The Binder Family celebrates Maddox Night's 7th Smurfday Party!
A man travels the world over in search of what he needs, and returns home to find it.
-- George Moore
My family is everything to me; they guide me in everything I say and do. We have four children: Maddox Night, Scarlett Rose, Sosie Blue (And introducing Cynthia Lux!) I never cease to be amazed and fascinated by them.
I truly believe that being a father has helped me to become an even more effective educator. Seeing their potential...watching them learn and grow...and playing a part in that...there is nothing more rewarding.

Hobbies
In addition to teaching and directing, I recently obtained my Master's Degree in Educational Administration. I also have many passions and interests. I always thought it was nice to find out more about my teachers, making them seem like real people that I could relate to. Here are some things that students may or may not know about me:
As I said above, I love being a husband and father. My family is everything to me. Going to my son's soccer and baseball games, drinking tea with my daughters, hanging out as a family...definitely my favorite hobby.
Teaching and directing my students is also more than a job for me. It's incredibly rewarding to watch a student utilize their talents; in teaching and directing them, I learn so much.
I am an avid runner, and love to exercise.
I grew up in the country, with lots of animals...for a long time, I wanted to be a Veterinarian.
My first pet was a goose, named Gabby. I carried her everywhere.
I come from a hunting and fishing family. I love the outdoors.
I have a passion for music, and I love to sing and dance.
I also have a passion for acting, and am at home on stage!
From the time I was little, I have wanted to do something that makes a difference in peoples' (or animals') lives. I was the kid who was bringing stray puppies, squirrels, kittens, etc. home so I could take care of them.
I am a huge pop culture fanatic. I love movies, television and entertianment, in general.
Along with many 80's classics, I love The Smurfs. Papa Smurf is my hero. As I love the magical Smurfs of my childhood, I refused to watch the recent Smurfs Motion Picture, as it does not reflect the Smurfs in any way, shape or form.
I also love Charlie Brown/Peanuts Comics...you can check out one of my favorite strips below!
I have a passion for reading. A book series that I recently loved: The Hunger Games series. My favorite character: Peeta.
This one is probably obvious, but I love to write. I never cease to be amazed by the power of words.
I am very active in rennovating and landscaping our home. I like to cook with my wife, entertaining friends and family.
I love coffee.
I love to learn.
I love to teach.
Most importantly, I love watching the students that I teach...learn...and then go on to teach others.
Over the course of the year, I look forward to getting to know you, helping you to incorporate your interests, talents, values and beliefs into the curriculum, empowering you to develop a tool kit that will aid you as you make your way through life.
